This RM800,000 investment via IBM channel distributor SL Information System Sdn Bhd, is part of the Syariahcompliant insurance company's transition to a dynamic infrastructure.

"This upgrade to the IBM Power7 Systems enables increased efficiency by four times in terms of performance and workload consolidation capacity; as well as making better use of energy for saving costs and contributing towards a greener IT environment." Takaful Ikhlas' purchase of the IBM Power 750 eight-way server is the first deployment of the IBM Power7 systems in Malaysia since its launch in March 2010.
According to SL Information System managing general manager Jimmy Lim, Takaful Ikhlas also requires upgraded software to support its business' fastincreasing storage requirements, and sufficient processing power within its production server.
"To achieve maximum efficiency and costsTakaful Ikhlas has reshuffled use of existing equipment, whereby the current production server will now be used as a data retention (DR) server and the older DR server will be used as user acceptance testing (UAT) server," Lim said.
IBM Malaysia country leader of general business Sanjeev Magotra said the IBM Power7 systems are fully integrated systems designed to manage the most demanding emerging applications, ranging from smart electrical grids to real-time analytics for financial markets.
"The systems enable Takaful Ikhlas to manage current applications and services at less cost with technology breakthroughs in virtualisation, provide energy savings, cost-efficient use of memory and performance at a better price."
