Introduction
Section 26(2) of the Workmen’s Compensation
Act 1952 (amended August 1996) requires all employers
of foreign workers to insure them under an approved
insurance / takaful scheme, known as Foreign Workers
Compensation Scheme (FWCS). Failure to do so is an
offence punishable with a fine not exceeding RM20,000.00
or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years
or both.
Takaful IKHLAS is on the panel of companies approved
by the Ministry of Human Resources to provide coverage
under this scheme.
What does IKHLAS FWCS
cover?
IKHLAS FWCS provides foreign workers with the following
benefits:-
Section 1 - Death or Permanent Disablement Benefits
Benefits as specified under the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1952:-
Death or Total Permanent Disablement benefits up
to RM25,000.00 due to accident in the course of employment.
Section 2 - Repatriation Expenses
Repatriation Expenses up to RM4,800.00 to cover the cost of sending back the
foreign workers to their country of origin in the event of Death or Permanent
Total Disablement.
Section 3 - Personal Accident (outside working hours)
a. Death and Permanent Total Disablement up to RM23,000.00.
b. Permanent Partial Disablement – as per Permanent Disablement Table
under First Schedule of the Act.
c. Temporary Disablement.
d. Medical Expenses.
